Intro to Group Pilates Workshop

Co-Taught by Kimberly Valmore and Krista Knudsen Thomas

Sunday, April 28; 10:00am-11:15am

New to Pilates? Looking to start taking group classes but don’t know where to begin? Start here!

This 70-minute workshop will be your first step toward building a successful Pilates practice in a small group setting. You will learn how to operate the Pilates Reformer and get acquainted with the basic Pilates principles. We will use small props, troubleshoot common challenges and review modifications for the introductory Reformer and selected Mat repertoire.

This workshop is longer than a normal 50-minute class to allow time for question-and-answer, equipment tutorial, and a basic Pilates Mat warmup that you can learn and do at home. Max 6 participants, so you will get lots of personalized attention in a safe and welcoming space.

You can take this class once or several times, depending on what type of preparation you need for your desired practice.

My classes at MVP are joyful, encouraging explorations of movement that fuse traditional “classical” Pilates with my own studies of contemporary Pilates, dance, and fitness. I truly value the lived experience of every body in the room and my job as a Movement Matchmaker is to help you find the best and most satisfying expression of each movement for your own unique self.

That said, I believe it’s important to continue evolving, so we strive each week to build on our previous work, advancing at an appropriately & safely challenging pace.

These classes are offered on a weekly basis at the MVP Group Studio. I ask that clients commit to attending regularly. That way, we build community, momentum, consistency—and advance our practices together!

  • MONDAYS: 11am Mixed Level Reformer: 1recurring spot available

  • WEDNESDAYS: 4:45pm Level 2 Reformer & More: 3 recurring spots available

  • WEDNESDAYS: 5:45pm Level 3 Reformer & More: 1 spot just opened up! (If you’re ready for a challenge, let’s talk about joining!)

  • FRIDAYS: 9:30am Level 1 & 2 Reformer: FULL/WAIT LIST

Reach out to me to talk about joining a group.

MORE ON GROUP CLASSES…
Groups are limited to 5-6 students per class…so it feels more like a semi-private than a standard “Group Class.” You’ll get lots of individual attention and corrections that will make an important difference in your practice.

Small Group Classes work best for healthy, non-injured bodies. If you are a new client and would like to join group classes, I require taking at least 1 one-on-one or more Private Session(s) with me or another available teacher to get the feel for the equipment, ensure your safety, and troubleshoot any potential challenges. Or, periodically I offer an Introduction to Group Pilates workshop as an alternative (scroll down for details). This is vital for safety, and to ensure a quality class experience for you, as well as all students.

Masks are now OPTIONAL at MVP. (Sometimes we do need to ask folks to mask up if there is extra risk.)

I am unable to accommodate walk-in clients.
